National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson Blasts IRS’s Offer in Compromise Program

In a report published in the highly respected Tax Notes, National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson confirmed what eTaxes.com determined long ago.

The IRS is doing everything it can to destroy the Offer in Compromise program. According to Tax Notes, speaking to the taxation section of the American Bar Association's fall meeting in Boston, "Olson cited statistics showing that the number of centralized offers deemed not processable increased from 14 percent in mid-2001 to 31 percent three years later. The number of offers accepted fell by more than half during the same period, from 34 percent to 15 percent. Rejected offers over that time frame have doubled from 12 percent to 24 percent."

Unfortunately, none of this is a surprise to us. Don't hire any tax firm that hasn't analyzed YOUR case with the new IRS rules in mind.
